Marusia received her formal education at the University of Manitoba, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees. After teaching high school English for several years, Marusia spent a year working and travelling in Europe and North Africa, where she became interested in working with clay. She studied with various professional potters in their studios, and has since participated in workshops and seminars. Later travels to Ghana and Nigeria with visits to local potters increased her appreciation for the timelessness and enduring presence of the potter’s art.
In 1978, along with several other potters, she organized and developed a co-operative studio and gallery in Winnipeg, the Stoneware Gallery and Studio. She has broadened her experience and knowledge of ceramics through her involvement in this successful business, where she teaches wheel-thrown pottery and sells her work.
Marusia has taken part in various juried shows and exhibitions across Canada. Her work may be found in the permanent collection of the Winnipeg Art Gallery and in the Government of Manitoba collections.
