“I like to create functional objects that are appealing both visually and tactilely. I am inspired by Japanese kimono decoration and my interests in gardening and marine fish. I incorporate handmade stamps and abstract brushwork, as well as slip-trailing on thrown and altered forms. Handbuilt elements like handles and knobs are added. The work is painted with commercial stains, bisqued and fired at cone six (2,200 °F) in oxidation.”
