This generally defines work created by means other than the wheel. The most commonly-used method by our artists is slabs.
Slabs
Clay is rolled into sheets that are cut and assembled while the clay is soft or firm. Examples: Barbara Balfour, Ken Chernavitch, David Krindle, Merilyn Kraut, Judith Marchand, Alan Lacovetsky, Steve Robinson, Marusia Foster, Kevin Stafford, Anne Fallis Elliott
Slip-cast slabs
Liquid clay (slip) is poured onto plaster to form sheets. These sheets are decorated with liquid coloured clay and the pots are formed around moulds. Examples: Barbara Balfour, Ken Chernavitch
